I have never been so frustrated!!!!!!!! And it's all because i wanted to help my friends, I am getting this nonsense from unprofessional and petty 'PROFESSIONALS'!!
What happened was we were supposed to send our resumes to companies for our Student Internship Program or SIP for short. So after a few weeks or so, i am lucky as i got several interviews while my friend(s) got none. So i decided to ask my dad for help as his childhood friend if the GM of this 4 STAR HOTEL, CKing's. Apparently, the only reason why i sent my resume in in the first place was to accompany my friends as it'd be senseless to ask them to send in as the GM would think, "Who the hell are they!?" Thus, if i were to send it in WITH them, he'd be like, "Oh! Natasha's friend!"
But lo and be hold, after J and i went for the interview (they didn't even bother replying M) they didn't like tell us that we're in and all. The HR manager just said something about preferring to hire foreign students over local students as "local students tend to be picky while foreign students just want to work and earn money."
Ok, I'd admit, locals are more picky as they want 9-5 jobs, they don't want OT, they want desk jobs, they want this, they want that. But as the standard of living in Singapore rises, the expectations rises as well. Imagine if you work as some shitty job, sweat and slog it out and your friend works at an office job, in air con and deal with office politics, and all this while you both get the same pay.. Obviously the office boy will laugh at the shitty job boy. BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT.
My point is that they're quite petty
and unprofessional.
1) They didn't tell us in black and white that they've confirmed us.
2) They didn't tell us face to face that they've confirmed us.
3) They didn't reply my emails when i wanted to make interview arrangements.
4) They didn't even reply M's repeated emails when she sent her resume.
And about point 3, I called them in the morning on the day of my interview (it was a Monday, I couldn't call during the weekend right..) to confirm with them. And of cos, it was confirmed la. But anyway, about 20 mins after i hung up, the assistant called me to confirm when she should have done it 3 days ago.
Ok, I admit that i am partly at fault for not clarifying. But what do you expect of a student who is DESPERATE for an internship? We're sending out 20 resumes at once leh!
Anyway, they sent the school a disappointment letter and i am in deep shit.. Just cos i wanted to help. Is it wrong to help people who i love?
My teacher actually told J, "Next time who would want to hire Natasha?" WTF. IT WAS JUST FUCKING MISCOMMUNICATION ALRIGHT! This sentence really pisses me off. She is worried that it will affect the school and cohort and all.. But please! She said she prefer FOREIGN students.
ARAGH! I JUST VERY ANGRY LA! WTF.
